Word From The Pastor

Welcome To 2025

This Sunday evening we start our week of prayer, each evening at the Langley Campus or online from 7 – 8 pm. Then our week culminates Saturday January 11 with our Prayer Summit event from 9 am to 2 pm. This is an important and foundational spiritual practice at CLA. Over the next week we will share our leadership’s conviction for our 5 “big” prayer requests for 2025. Here is a sneak peak, additionally I want you to hear this amazing testimony from our English Studies for Life in Canada course. Prayer Requests for 2025 - Relationships (healing, restoration, protection), Restored Spirit (through a life devoted to spiritual rhythms), Ready for Labour (volunteers, outreach), Reaching the World (revival), Reaching New Spiritual Territory (through campus development & missions).

It has been an amazing year for ESLC with around 70 students registered in the most recent Fall Term coming from 21 different countries: South Korea, China, Iran, Vietnam, Brazil, Poland, Colombia, India, Peru, Syria, Kazakhstan, Israel, Mexico, Taiwan, Pakistan, Uganda, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Japan, Ukraine and the Philippines.  It's beautiful to see the friendships that have been formed amongst the students as they practice their English in and out of class.  Learning English is not the only common thing they have with each other.  They bond and support each other as they adjust to their new lives in Canada.

Christmas is always a special opportunity to share the birth of Jesus Christ.  For some, it's not only their first Christmas in Canada, but also their first time hearing the Nativity story.  Our year end Christmas party was filled with laughter as we played games, feasted on foods from around the world and exchanged gifts.  It was also a time of reminiscing as they sang O Holy Night, thinking of their loved ones and their home countries.  One thing for sure, we all felt the love of Jesus Christ as we celebrated His miraculous birth and presence in our lives, at least for the moments that we were together, until we meet again in the New Year 2025.

For more information about our ESL program, to take a class or to volunteer visit our page on the CLA website here or contact me at eslc@clachurch.com.  Winter Term starts January 7 until March 13.  Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30am-12:15pm.
