This past weekend we had the absolute privilege to host the first Transformation Weekend in Sooke. It was so great to have this core part of who CLA is make an impact in the lives of the people who call CLA Sooke their home church and call others in this community their family. Twenty-six brave people went on the journey, all different experiences, backgrounds and journeys lead them to participate. Some were apprehensive, others could not wait for the first session on Friday to start.
Through the twenty-eight hours that followed, God began to do a work in the people who dedicated time and energy to this weekend. There were people set free from lies that have held them captive since they were children. Understanding of the roots that cause us to produce unhealthy fruit in our lives. People were baptized in the Spirit. Confession of sin, new revelation of the Cross and Christ, and a healing to chase after in the weeks to come.
I said it on Sunday, time given to God is never wasted time. He will always redeem it; He will always do something. Whether it is a weekend of intentionality, a year of discipleship and development, or an hour of prayer and Bible reading in the morning. Time given and invested into our relationship with God is never a waste.
As we come down from the experiences this weekend, we are propelled into a new way of being, spurred on by the Spirit. Like a Formula One car taking a brief break in the pit to refuel, get new tires and find clarity, we enter back into the race of life invigorated by the Spirit, outfitted with new tools to work through pain, to handle stress, to finish the race well.
Transformation Weekend in Sooke truly brought transformation, and we are already getting the question, “when can we do that again”?
