Word From The Pastor

Raising Mission-Minded Kids

I’ve been so encouraged by the theme and presentations of We Are Missions. But you may not realise that our Go! mandate is also emphasised and practiced at CLA Kids. We look forward to this month every year, bringing our teaching and focus into alignment with the themes in “big church.” This is one reason why having a Family Sunday during Missions Month is so important to us. We want CLA Kids to understand this is God’s Mission and it’s for His whole church. That’s one way we emphasize Go. But here are some other ways.

  1. We have giving projects over the course of the year to which children are invited to contribute. Our current project is to raise money to have the Prayer Covenant Card for Children printed into the Manobo language ($1100.00). This people group reside in the Philippines and we’re eager to see what God does as children and their families learn to pray. This was a project presented to us from one of CLA mission partners, the Errington’s – working with Bible translation in the Philippines. Thank you, Ellen and Ross!
  2. CLA Kids also has a yearly commitment of sponsorship to two children from the Lighthouse Learning Centre in Thailand ($500.00 per child). Our missions partners Zach and Megan Wylie oversea this ministry. Cataleya and Jawney, our sponsored children have received consistent support over the last 5 years. Cataleya was baptized in water when our REV missions teams visited this ministry 2 years ago. We love the way CLA missions is connected together, everyone doing their part to see thousands of lives changed by the power of God and the message of Jesus’ love and sacrifice.
  3. CLA Kids Camp is perhaps the most obvious and visible way that CLA families reach out into their neighbourhoods to invite others to attend Kids Camp. Here, at three of our campuses, children hear the whole gospel in a fun format. Our theme this year is Race Ya! and will challenge the children to “Move like Moses.” In March, Sooke will hold a spring break Kids Camp using our Kids Camp materials from last summer.  And our dates this year in Langley will be July 14-18 and in Maple Ridge, July 21-25 – Save the dates!

Thank you for the way you - moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, teachers, leaders, helpers, and prayer warriors - influence what happens as we all faithfully disciple the next generation to join God in His great mission. We Are Missions!

Serving together with you all!
