Word From The Pastor

Christmas Hampers 2024

Christmas planning is in full swing at CLA! We have a Christmas Committee coordinating all the efforts to make this a meaningful and memorable Christmas. From advent to banquets, special services and SERVING those around us, all meant to draw us ever closer to our Savior during this season.

Christmas Hampers are one of our favourite Christmas traditions through City Serve and Care Ministries! Hampers lovingly assembled with all the necessities that families are finding themselves without to make the season a little extra special. Since September we have been collecting non-perishables through Thrive, HER, REV and Rally and it has been so fun to see all the items come in, knowing hampers are such a tangible way to share Christ’s love to people in our community.

I would like to invite you to be a part of Christmas Hampers at CLA… you can get involved in many ways:

  1. Sponsor a Christmas Hamper as a family or Life Group, email mphommaviset@clachurch.com to get more info and receive a family profile.
  2. Donate towards Christmas Hampers by giving in person or online  Make a Donation choosing City Serve – Langley in the drop down menu.
  3. Volunteer with us to assemble and deliver the hampers, for more info please email mphommaviset@clachurch.com
  4. Eat Cookies…yes Cookies with a Cause are back, we have our signature Chocolate Candy Cane Shortbread (I know many of you have been dreaming about this shortbread since last year) and we have something new for you this year! We are selling Cookie Decorating Kits! We will have a sample box and will be selling pre-orders for pick up on Sunday, Dec 1st! There will be limited quantities so order your kits early for your next girls’ night in…date night…family night or just a fun activity for the kids!!

In the coming weeks as Christmas approaches, I pray that our hearts and minds would be aware of God in all the things we do. That as we shop, wrap gifts, eat cookies, sing songs, all the things the season brings, that we would ponder the gift that Jesus is to us. As we partake in some of the Christmas activities, that our souls would be refreshed as we remember the Hope we have in Him. That we would take the moments we need to remember Him this Christmas, breathe in His goodness and allow that to permeate the season before us, making us a blessing to those around us!

“May the Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.” – Numbers 6:24-26

We look forward to seeing you at the City Serve table in the foyer after the Sunday morning services!
