Val also taught a seven week bible study series on the "Names of God" at the Maple Ridge Campus in late Spring this year. Val previously served on the Board of CLA for a two year term from 2022 to 2024 and has also served on the CLA Board Finance Committee for the last three years. Catherine de la Rambelje
Cathy and Glenn have attended CLA for 7 ½ years. During this time, Cathy has served on the Finance Committee, led Marriage Ministry, Pre-marriage mentoring, First Impressions, various Kids Ministry events and as a Board Member (4 years) & Treasurer/Finance Chair (2 yrs) of CLA and CLA Housing Society. Glenn and Cathy have four adult children: Mallory (married to Elvis), Brendan (married to Annabelle), Cheryl (married to Logan) and Sarah. This year they happily welcomed their second grandchild Zara. As a family they love to spend time together, travel/vacation and go to church together. Cathy is the Director of Finance & Operations for the EFCC (at TWU) for the past 17 years. She loves that 90% of her work revolves around missions and ministry. Lately, Cathy’s life verse is Proverbs 3:5 “Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding." Each day, this is her prayer - to walk in the perfect love of Jesus, to rely fully on the Holy Spirit, and to stay mindful of the Father's constant care for her and for all His people.
Rebecca Straforelli
Rebecca and her family have attended CLA for 30 years. Over those 30 years, Rebecca has sung in the choir, taught Sunday School, led a Life Group (along with her late husband Philippe), led a Hub group for Rev Youth, volunteered in Women's ministry, served on the Prayer Team, taught adult education classes and is currently serving in the cafe on Sunday mornings. She has 4 children, Luc (24), Kate (22), Amy (20) and Mason (18). Their favourite things to do together as a family are sharing meals and travelling. Rebecca previously worked as a nurse, but now teaches at Trinity Western University along with being involved in the academic leadership of the Department of Leadership. Psalm 23 became very meaningful to Rebecca while she walked through her husbands cancer diagnosis and subsequent death. She experienced the provision of the Shepherd preparing a table for her in the presence of her enemy and the valley of the shadow of death. God's provision of peace and comfort was real and palpable and continues to carry her through to this day.
Blair Whitmarsh
Blair and his wife Lorraine have attended CLA for 29 years. Over their years at CLA they have served in Kids Ministry on Sunday mornings and led a Life Group. Blair and Lorraine love spending time with their 3 adult (married) daughters and their 6 grandchildren. His life verse is Philippians 4:4-7 “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again, I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” NKJV. It is a passage that outlines how Blair tries to live his life and it has carried him through good and challenging times.
